In Paper 2 (Extended Reading), you have 2 hours for three questions. Allocate roughly 25 minutes for Question 1 (detailed comprehension), 30 minutes for Question 2 (summary), and 55 minutes for Question 3 (analysis). Always leave 10 minutes to check your work.
Cambridge markers reward candidates who engage closely with the text. Always refer to the passage using short, embedded quotations. Avoid copying long chunks — select precise words and phrases that support your point.
In directed writing, always adopt the correct format (letter, report, speech, etc.) and use an appropriate register. Include content from the passage and your own ideas. This is where many students lose marks unnecessarily.
Cambridge passages often use sophisticated vocabulary. Build your word bank by reading widely — newspapers, quality magazines, and fiction. For each new word, note its meaning, part of speech, and an example sentence.
