Both Edexcel papers are fully closed-book. You must memorise quotations for every text - no extracts are provided for Shakespeare or prose sections.
Edexcel uses Relationships and Conflict clusters (15 poems each). You will be given a named poem and must compare it with another of your choice from the same cluster.
Edexcel Shakespeare questions give a theme or character to discuss across the whole play. Post-1914 questions may offer a choice of two essay titles.
