Pearson IGCSE Poetry Anthology

The five poems in Part 2 of the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE English Anthology, set for English Language A (4EA1). Paper 2 Section A is one 30-mark essay on one Part 2 poem or prose text, printed in the exam. Full study guides are in production. Each poem currently has a registry entry, themes and a one-paragraph teaser; line-by-line analysis and exam-style practice questions are being added.

Anthology version: This site teaches Issue 8 (February 2026) of the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE English Anthology (ISBN 978-1-446-93108-0). Material differences from freely-available online versions include:

Half-Caste uses Agard’s spelling ‘yu’ (not ‘you’);
The Bright Lights of Sarajevo has additional stanza breaks not in Harrison’s original Guardian publication;
the adapted non-fiction text ‘Explorers or boys messing about?’ differs from the Guardian article it was adapted from - always use the anthology version when answering Edexcel questions.
