by Benjamin Zephaniah (1958-2023)

Benjamin Zephaniah (1958-2023) was a British dub poet and rights campaigner; he died on 7 December 2023. The anthology prints the article The Guardian published online on 2 October 2015, which is adapted from his contribution to Creative, Successful, Dyslexic (2015). In it, Zephaniah writes about growing up dyslexic when his teachers did not know what dyslexia was, and argues that dyslexia is not a measure of intelligence and can make a person creative.
