Most English nouns add -s for plural. But some words are uncountable (information, advice, furniture) and never take -s. Some words look plural but mean one thing (news, mathematics). And irregular plurals (children, mice, feet) are common in essays.
Regular plural = -s (book → books). After s/x/ch/sh add -es (bus → buses, box → boxes). After consonant + y, change y to ies (city → cities). Irregular plurals: man → men, woman → women, child → children, foot → feet, tooth → teeth, mouse → mice, person → people. Uncountable nouns (information, advice, furniture, equipment, news, water, music) never take -s and use singular verbs. To count them, use a unit phrase: "a piece of advice", "two pieces of information", "three slices of bread". "News" looks plural but is uncountable singular: "The news IS bad."
I bought three books yesterday.
اشتريت ثلاث كتب أمس.
Regular plural with -s.
The children are playing in the garden.
العيال يلعبون في الحديقة.
Irregular plural: child → children.
She gave me some good advice.
أعطتني نصيحة زينة.
"Advice" uncountable - no -s.
The news is shocking.
الأخبار صادمة.
"News" looks plural, takes singular verb.
I need three pieces of information.
أحتاج ثلاث معلومات.
Counting uncountable nouns with "pieces of".
Wrong: She gave me three advices.
Right: She gave me three pieces of advice.
"Advice" is uncountable - never takes -s. Count it with "pieces of".
Wrong: The childrens are playing.
Right: The children are playing.
"Children" is already plural - no extra -s.
Wrong: The informations are important.
Right: The information is important.
"Information" is uncountable singular.
Wrong: I have two homeworks tonight.
Right: I have two pieces of homework tonight.
"Homework" is uncountable.
