A rich young man takes Netherfield
Mrs Bennet tells her husband that Netherfield Park has been taken by a rich young man, Mr Bingley, and urges him to call so that their five daughters can be introduced. Mr Bennet teases her, and the narrator sums both of them up.
“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.”
